A Chinese-led consortium won a bid to build Mexico’s first high-speed rail line.  China Railway Construction Corporation and a handful of Mexican construction firms have been granted a 4.4-billion-dollar contract to link Mexico City with the key industrial hub of Queretaro located in the country’s heartland.

The 210-kilometre line – the largest infrastructure project in Mexican history will reduce travel time between the two cities from about two and a half hours to less than one and operate at a maximum speed of 290 kilometers per hour.

In many ways, China is uniquely suited to the project.
